Technology Level
AIX 6100-05 Technology Level
This media contains a set of updates for AIX 6.1. Use the
Install All Updates procedure to install this
set of updates.
Once installed you can determine if all fileset updates for the 6100-05
level are installed using the following command. The 'oslevel'
command will still indicate AIX 6.1.0.0.
If the output does not indicate 6100-05, you can determine which filesets are
not updated using the command:
Installation Procedures
Use the following installation procedures as recommended to install
updates from this media.
Installation Tips
- You will need to be logged in as 'root' to perform the
following software maintenance functions.
- Creating a system backup is recommended before starting
the installation procedure. Refer to the mksysb command
in the AIX 6.1 Commands Reference manual for additional
information.
- Installation failures due to missing base level filesets
are normal. This means that a fileset could not be updated
because it was not already installed.
- Installation failures indicating that a fileset is already
installed are normal. This means that the specified fileset is
already installed at the necessary level or higher.
- The latest AIX 6.1 installation hints and tips are available
from the following sources. These tips may contain information
that is critical for successful installation of this software.
Install All Updates
Use this procedure to install all updates from the media that apply to
installed filesets on your system.
Refer to the Installation Tips section
prior to installing updates.
- Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive and issue the command:
- Press the F4 key, select the CD-ROM as the installation device
and press ENTER.
- Set other installation options as desired and press ENTER to
begin the installation.
- After completing installation of software from this media,
you should reboot the system for the updates to take effect using
the command:
